I’ve worn glasses since the age of 8 and I never looked forward to a trip to the optician, partly because I’m claustrophobic and partly because I found the experience of trying to choose the new glasses very difficult. After all, it’s an expensive disappointment if you don’t get it right and you’re stuck with the ‘wrong’ pair of specs until you can save up for a new pair.
You’ll feel happier with your glasses if they match your personality and are compatible with your lifestyle; are harmonious with your colouring; and suit your face shape and features. Case study: One of my lovely clients is due to buy new glasses soon so she came a couple of weeks ago for an Eyewear Consultation. After trying my eyewear templates against her face, we narrowed the choice down to these frame shapes:
Plan A for my client is the style at the top of the photo to suit her face shape, with tortoiseshell frames to complement her Soft-warm colouring, and possibly with some detail on the endpiece and/or the arms in a different colour to fit with her creative personality. And since it’s always best to have a Plan B we’ve chosen three more frame shapes too, just in case. Now she’s looking forward to her trip to the optician and feeling confident about choosing her new glasses.
